| In
the indigenous tongue, “sala” means to be expert in a particular
field. This lends its name to the group in which each member plays a part,
in reviving the craft of making terracotta products the conventional way. The group is led by Mr.Thanasarn Kasemsook, who recognizes the need to generate income for people of all ages and gender in the locality and intends to improve the skills of local craftsmen so they may compete with pride in the global market. |

Using a special formula, the
techniques for mixing the clay result in a color and feel resembling natural
black sandstone after baking in an ancient kiln. It is this method that
gives the group’s fountain set its distinction. Apart form being
used for internal and external decoration, this piece of art also carries
the meaning of the cycle of creatures, marked by dipping the piece into

Moreover, the product’s
moist surface also provides a fertile breeding ground for moss and fern
that adds an intriguing dimension to the product. Meanwhile, those who
follow the movements and flow of water will also appreciate its artistic
value, both form a visual and audio impact: the scent of the clay, water
and moss; its uneven, slippery and cool surface to the touch, and the
consciousness and tranquility felt through the heart.
