      Few people would admit to a keen interst in carrying on the legacy of ancient Lanna sculpting work.But, the Prao District Farmer Wive’s Sala Lanna Pots Group is reviving this particular folk wisdom by adapting it to product it to product designs, while incorporating the concept and philosophy of Zen that teaches man to lead a happy life on the basis of simplicity.Consequently, these craftsmen's products truly represent Lanna folk's pottery handicrafts.  
 
        In the indigenous tongue, “sala” means to be expert in a particular field. This lends its name to the group in which each member plays a part, in reviving the craft of making terracotta products the conventional way.
         The group is led by Mr.Thanasarn Kasemsook, who recognizes the need to generate income for people of all ages and gender in the locality and intends to improve the skills of local craftsmen so they may compete with pride in the global market.
           Using a special formula, the techniques for mixing the clay result in a color and feel resembling natural black sandstone after baking in an ancient kiln. It is this method that gives the group’s fountain set its distinction. Apart form being used for internal and external decoration, this piece of art also carries the meaning of the cycle of creatures, marked by dipping the piece into water in an endless cycle.
 
         Moreover, the product’s moist surface also provides a fertile breeding ground for moss and fern that adds an intriguing dimension to the product. Meanwhile, those who follow the movements and flow of water will also appreciate its artistic value, both form a visual and audio impact: the scent of the clay, water and moss; its uneven, slippery and cool surface to the touch, and the consciousness and tranquility felt through the heart.
 
             In addition to the fountain Black Sandstone set, members of the group boast their creativity in other works. Based on a technique developed since the Haripunchai period, planting colored clays of enhanced designs into the main, raw material gives rise to a eide range of terracotta product. These include the terracotta smiling child and animals, and other black sandstone sculpture in and attractive display.
